3 Days Volcanoes Gorilla Safari Rwanda

Have you been passionate about gorilla trekking! Rwanda, particularly Volcanoes national park offers one of the best gorilla experiences in the world. The park is a home to over 380 mountain gorillas and 10 habituated gorilla families ready for trekking. Spreading all the way to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Volcanoes national park is part of the wider Virunga Mountain ranges.

The three day gorilla safari involves touring Kigali city, driving through rolling hills, and breath-taking vegetation cover to Volcanoes national park and gorilla trekking in the magical Virunga national park.

Detailed itinerary.  

Day 1: Arrival, Kigali city tour and transfer to Volcanoes national park.

We are assume that you arrive at Kigali international airport in the morning. Upon your arrival our professional driver / tour guide will pick you and lead you to a hotel of your choice within the city for a lip-smirking breakfast.

After the breakfast you will drive around Kigali city and visit a number of spectacular places such as the genocide memorial and get to learn of the stories behind the monuments and names pinned on the walls, religious centers, and local markets. Get to see how hospitable Rwandese are as you break off at any hotel of your choice for lunch and some relaxation.

Start your two – three hour drive journey in the afternoon to Volcanoes national park.  The journey is a one of a kind experience as you drive through rolling hills, green vegetation cover, trading centers, human settlements, to mention but a few.

Upon arrival, check in to the hotel / lodge of your choice for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking.

After an early morning breakfast go to the park headquarters for briefing and group allocation. Gorilla trekking happens in groups of six per gorilla family. Briefing takes not more than an hour, you then go into the forest following gorilla trails. In the event of encountering them, you will spend an hour in their presence as you take pictures, see them feed, mate, socialize, groom and play. You are not allowed to use a flashlight camera since it scares and frustrates the gorillas.

Return to your lodge for lunch relaxation.

In the afternoon you can chose to walk to the neighboring communities alongside guided nature walks into the park as you enjoy seeing numerous bird species.

Return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer from Volcanoes national park to Kigali city – departure.

After an early morning breakfast you can embark on golden monkey tracking or visit the magical Dian Fossy Tombs – optional; before making you way back to the city – Kigali.

Upon arrival and time is on your side you can visit any other places around the city that you might have missed on day 1.

Continue to Kigali international airport and board a plane back home, marking the end of the 3 days gorilla safari in Rwanda.
