10 Days Uganda Primates & Zanzibar Beach Safari

The safari to Uganda and Zanzibar takes visitors to the best of African culture, wildlife, and beautiful beaches. You will discover attractions like the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, Ziwa Rhino sanctuary, Isunga Community with its Batooro and Bakiga cultures among others.

This safari will also take you to top of the world which has the best view of seeing the 3 crater lakes on a straight line, Ziwa Rhino sanctuary home of once extinct rhinos, Zanzibar with its beaches, spice plantations and stone town. You will engage in different activities like chimp tracking, game drives, hiking, and boat cruise among others. The safari will start from Uganda and it will end in Zanzibar. Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to a hotel.

Welcome to the pearl of Africa!!! Our driver-guide will pick you from the hotel and make a transfer to a hotel with the option of visiting the Uganda Wildlife Education center where most of the Uganda Wildlife is held captive.

Among others include the Chimpanzees-human close cousin, elephants, crocodiles, olive baboons, Vervet monkeys, rhinos, lions, antelopes, warthogs among others with birds like the shoebill stalk, peacock, the crested crane, parrots among others.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison falls national park and stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary.

Head to Murchison falls national park very early in the morning when you are done with breakfast together with packed lunch. You will then have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary where you will have a chance to spot the rhinos. The rhinos are among the big five animals and this means that you will have started the journey of spotting the big five. Trekking can take about 2 hours and here you will spot other wildlife species like the Uganda Kobs, hippos among others.

At this point have your lunch and then proceed with a stopover at the roadside market where you will purchase some fresh fruits. Murchison falls national park is the biggest national park in Uganda and is known to host the world’s strongest waterfall and four of the big five animals. Head to the park and be welcome at the lodge booked

Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise, visit top of the falls.

Head for a morning game drive in the savannah plains of the park where different animals will be spotted such as buffaloes, warthogs, elephants antelopes like Jackson’s hartebeests, bushbucks, Oribis among others, lions, leopards, and birds like ibis, hornbills, sunbird, kingfishers among others.

The game drive takes you to the hippo pool where you will have a break of about 20 minutes while enjoying fresh fruits or bush breakfast. After lunch, head to Albert Nile where you will engage in a boat cruise as you will be able to spot the Nile crocodiles, hippos, and other birds like kingfishers, hornbills among others.

The cruise will end at the bottom of the falls and you will be able to hike through Baker’s rock to top of the falls. While here, you will witness the rainbow formed when water passes in the narrow cauldron. Enjoy the view as you take photos and head to the lodge booked in the south of the park.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale national park. Visit top of the world.

Head to Kibale National park this morning after breakfast while enjoying the Nile and the journey is rewarding where you will be able to pass through different forests with primates like olive baboons, tea plantations and maybe having tea pluckers among others. Kibale national park is home to 13 primates and it occupies an area of 750square kilometers with the nearest town being Fort portal city. It is known to be a research center due to having diverse wildlife in form of vegetation cover, primates, large mammals, butterflies, and bird species among others.

You will be served with en-route lunch and on the arrival, you will head to visit the top of the world with a help of the local guide from Isunga Cultural Community Tours. The summit offers a view of 3 crater lakes (Nyamirima, Nyinabulitwa, and Nyabikere) on a straight line, Kibale forest, and tea plantations. You will then head to the booked lodge after taking memorable photos

Day 5: Drive to Kanyanchu for chimpanzee tracking and Isunga Community visit.

Have breakfast and transfer to the Kanyanchu information center where chimpanzee trekking starts with a briefing of visitors. You will be told the rules and regulations that will guide you through the forest. Among others include; no feeding animals do not mimic, do not make noise while on the forest track, do not use flashlight cameras, and always keeping track with the guide ranger steps.

Start the search with a help of the armed park ranger guide who will be communicating with fellow guides on radio calls to be able to locate our fellow cousins-chimpanzees in a short time. You will have an hour in their presence while enjoying their movements and then trek out of the forest and a certificate will be rewarded to you for trekking the chimps on this forest.

After lunch, visit Isunga Cultural Community tours where you will learn as you get entertained from traditional dances and music for both Bakiga and Batooro. Also, you will enjoy the drama of child naming or pet naming (Empaako naming). Also, engage in the community tour in Isunga village that is located at the edge of Kibale national park, and learn how the locals co-exist with wildlife through different projects that are aimed to benefit them while conserving. The day ends after taking a nap.

Day 6: Crater lakes exploration and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Head for a crater lakes explorations with a help of the local guide from Isunga Cultural Community Tours where you will encounter different craters and you have an option of taking a canoe ride around one of the craters.

You have higher chances of spotting a hippo, hamerkop, great blue turacos and kingfishers among others. Then head to Queen Elizabeth National Park after your lunch where you will be welcomed by abundant wildlife, normally seen roaming around the savannah plains of the park. Queen Elizabeth national park is predominantly known for its prides of the rare tree-climbing lions that can be traced in Ishasha sector, as well as its abundant wildlife. You will arrive and check in the booked accommodation.

Day 7: Game drive and boat cruise.

Have a morning game drive to catch up with early raisers like the predators such as lions, leopards, spotted hyenas among others. While on this game drive, you have higher chances of spotting elephants, buffalos, Uganda Kobs, warthogs, olive baboons among others.

The game drive lasts for 2hours but is worth it and rewarding. After break lunch, you will head for another tremendous adventure on the Kazinga channel as you engage in a boat cruise lasting 2 hours. This will reward you with memories of spotting hippos, crocodiles in the waters as the elephants, buffalos, and antelopes graze around the banks of the channel. The evening will be spent at the lodge while waiting for dinner.

Day 8: Transfer back to Kampala and fly to Zanzibar.

Transfer back to Kampala passing via Fort portal where you will have a chance to view the glaciers on top of the Rwenzori Mountains and then a view of tea plantations, the forests that are inhabiting the olive baboons that are normally spotted on the way.

Upon reaching Kampala, you will straight head to Entebbe Airport and fly to Zanzibar. The driver-guide will take you through a short brief about Zanzibar Island and then make a transfer to a booked hotel or resort where you will spend a night.

Day 9: Full day leisure at the Beach – Zanzibar.

Have a full day exploring Zanzibar where you have different options you will take like visiting the Stone town tour, spice tour, visiting Jozani-Chwaka bay national park and much more.

This will create a memorable experience and you can also spend a day while enjoying the beaches of this country as you sunbathe, play beach soccer, snorkel, cruising on the blue waters of Indian ocean among others.

Day 10: Departure / fly back home.

On this day, you will be served breakfast depending on your schedule and after the driver, guide will take you to the airport and fly back home which will mark the end of your 10 days tour.
